RIP Rebel Jedi Knight

 My handsome boy Rebel Jedi Knight has passed over the rainbow bridge.  He will be greatly missed by all of us.  He was truly a magnificent creature.  We all are still just devastated by our loss. 

He was born November 20, 2000 and died on September 11, 2012.  He was in my life from January 27, 2001 and showed me the kind of unconditional love only a dog is capable every day.

Suzy Kissing Rebel

Rebel had been acting a little off but kept bouncing back for a few weeks.  On Saturday morning, he took a serious downward turn and we rushed him in to the vet clinic.  They did some initial blood work and he was found to be having a diabetic episode resulting in ketoacidosis along with elevated liver and kidney enzymes.  The vet kept him and started an IV and treatment.  I kept in close contact with the vet over the weekend.  She thought he seemed to be improving with treatment.  However, on Tuesday morning the vet informed us that he had taken a turn for the worse overnight.  He was no longer able to get up or stand on his own and the vet was quite concerned.  We rushed in to the vet clinic.  Rebel tried to show us that he was happy to see us; however, it was evident that the spark was gone from his eyes.  We were devastated by the fact that not only could he not stand on his own and needed to be carried as he could not walk, but he could not even wag his tale.  My beautiful boy was beyond miserable, yet he tried to show us how much he loved us and had missed us.  We spent some time just loving him, petting him and talking to him.  After speaking with the vet concerning his prognosis and possible treatments, we learned that his health had dramatically deteriorated and the vet felt he would not recover.  We then made the very difficult decision to say goodbye to our much beloved Rebel.  We just could not ask him to continue suffering simply because we could not bear to say goodbye because we knew Rebel would do anything in his power to stay with us no matter how that made him suffer.  It was not a decision made or taken lightly.  We were with him at his passing over the rainbow bridge and he showed nothing but unconditional love until the very end. 

I miss my special majestic boy.  He had so much personality and love to share.  I miss him more than words can ever truly say...

Heartbroken Mommy

Been a while...

Rebel and I have been doing well.  Sorry we haven't asked to get on Mommy's computer to write to you in a very long time, but I still wont walk on the laminate flooring so I don't get to even see the computer much.
There is so much to catch you up on.  As I mentioned I still wont walk on the floor so I spend my time inside in the master bedroom.  I also still take my hormone pill once a week.  Rebel had surgery on his eye.  He healed up well though!  He loves his time on the couch since he does walk on the laminate floor.

Puppy Love

Change of Life?

Mommy had to take me to the vet a few weeks ago.  I was having a crisis where I couldn't hold my urine when I fell asleep.  It was making me very self conscious and moody on top of causing Mommy a lot of work!

The vet tried to get a urine sample by sticking a long needle into my bladder.  They stuck me quite a few times on two separate occasions, but I guess my body just didn't cooperate and give them a sample.  They also tried to get me to tinkle in a tray... How very rude I thought!

Because they couldn't get a sample they put me on a course of antibiotics and started me on hormones too.  I stopped having accidents on the very night of my first doses of medicine.  Mommy says that it is OK that I had a problem and that it is just part of getting older.  She said that what happened is called the "Change of Life" and that ladies can have things like that happen.  She also mumbled something about hoping nothing crazy like that happens to her when she goes through the change. 

I don't mind that I will have to take medicine for the rest of my life.  I don't even realize that it is medicine since Mommy wraps it up in peperoni or some other kind of treat!

Snow!

I am so happy to see the snow come!  I love the snow so much, even if Mommy and Suzy don't!  I hope that Winter is here to stay... I know that Mommy is going to get me for saying that too.  I love to stay outside and enjoy the snow and cold!  I have been trying to stay outside instead of going in when I should even as I am just enjoying it so much! 

I am one very happy "snow dog"!!

Loving our Special Food

Mommy cooks special food for us because when we eat commercial dog food we can have seizures.  Mommy cooks a mixture of rice and wild game meats with whatever fresh veggies are available.  I love when we have carrots in our food!  I pick them out and set them to the side so that I can eat them last.  Yum!  Rebel just loves his food and gobbles it up super quick.

Chill In The Air

There is a chill in the air and we are loving it!!  When the weather starts to turn cool again we really enjoy it.  We don't want to come inside hardly at all when the weather is like this.  We are so happy that there is a touch of Fall in the air!

Intruders?

Well the reason that Mommy and Grandpa were out in the garage working so much was because they were setting up for a garage sale.  At least that is what Mommy called it!!  Really it was people we didn't know going into our garage and taking stuff with them.  Mommy said that they paid for the stuff but we still were really confused about that part.  Since I don't like people I don't know getting to close to Mommy on my watch I was barking and snarling quite a bit.  Rebel didn't seem to mind but he did hang out at the gate hoping for pets I think.  He didn't get many pets though since I was telling people to get away from Mommy! 

Mommy and Daddy told me to hush quite a bit but they also told me what a good girl I was too.  They say I am the best anti-theft protection device ever!  Whatever that means!

Our Garage?

It seems like something big must be going to happen soon in our garage.  Mommy and Grandpa have been out there a lot sorting things and getting stuff set up on tables.  We don't know what could be coming and we aren't sure that we are going to like it either!!  Mommy says that we are going to have to be on our best behavior on Saturday too.  She said no barking at the people which makes absolutely no sense to me!!  I guess I will have to tell you all how it goes....

The Mighty Hunters

As you might know, us husky dogs have a HIGH predator prey instinct.  Rebel and I seem to have even more than most.  Two more trespassers on our backyard have been found and destroyed.  We hope that their friends out there have learned the lesson to stay out!!

Grandma & Grandpa are here!

The Florida grandparents got here!!  We have been getting extra pets and love since they got here.  I am especially loving it because Suzy doesn't get up on the floor still so I get all the attention in the living room!!

Busy Busy Busy!

I am still enjoying my tall tall grass!  Mommy and Daddy have been so busy with things that they haven't mowed it down.  To be honest I hope they never do!!

I Made Mommy Mad!

Daddy is using his BBQ grill for the big community dinner tonight as part of Bow Days.  That meant that they needed to get it off of our deck in the back yard and take it over to the community hall.  Well they guys showed up to help move it and I went nuts!!  Barking and growling and just acting up I guess.  They weren't even in the yard yet and I wasn't having any part of them being at our house.  Mommy yelled for me to come inside and I didn't listen at all.  Mommy even tried to tempt me with a treat to come inside!  In the end she had to get the leash and drag me inside.  Rebel of course listened to Mommy and made me look like an even worse girl :(

Tall Tall Grass

Here is a picture of me in the tall tall grass!!  I love the tall grass and will be oh so sad when Mommy and Daddy mow it down.  If you look really closely you can see Rebel peeking around the corner of the house too.  Oh and Mommy said that I should tell you to notice how BIG her rhubarb is growing.

Hi! Remember Us?

Rebel and I are back!!
Mommy has been  having a lot of health issues so we have been spending all of our extra time loving on her.  We are sorry that we haven't been getting on Mommy's computer to talk to all of you.
We have had a lot of excitement since we last talked to you.  Our town flooded!!  Well, it almost flooded but Mommy and Daddy and Grandpa worked really hard and kept most of the water out!  We got really wet though because it rained and snowed a lot while the river was rising and rising.
We want you all to know that we are doing well and have missed chatting with you all.  We promise to try and be better about getting on Mommy's computer!

Too Cold!

It is so cold here that even us Snow Dogs are begging for more inside time! We go outside and as soon as we are done with our business we are begging to be let back inside!! Who would of thought it would get so cold that even we would be cold!

Mommy thinks that she needs to take pictures of me and Rebel all the time... For this lovely snap I was taking a nap when she oh so rudely interrupted me! Can you tell that I was not very happy with her?

Backyard of SNOW

Today Rebel and I wanted to show you what our snowy backyard looks like. It is so cold here that even us snow dogs don't want to stay outside very long!! It has been snowing and snowing and snowing some more lately. I guess winter has come to stay in our little corner of the world.

The Floor of Doom!

This is as far up onto the new floor as I will go. It is the floor of doom!! Rebel doesn't mind the new floor at all though. He really is enjoying his Mommy and Daddy time without me while they are in the living room. He even gets up on the couch with them and gets all kinds of love and attention!! Oh that pesky brother! I wish I could conquer my fear and walk on the floor already but I just can't seem to do it!

We are still alive!

This summer was crazy for everyone! Mommy was super busy with work and didn't have a lot of time to let us use her computer. Now we should have more time though because Mommy is going to be at home a lot more now. She doesn't have a job anymore but told us not to worry because her and Daddy went hunting and got us plenty of antelope to eat!
