The Big Ticket

Hi everyone! It is me Rebel coming at you large and in charge today!

I gave Mommy my best aren't I handsome look for this picture. You can see that I too am starting to blow my coat but that doesn't bother me at all. I know that I am still the handsome boy no matter what my coat might be doing!

Daddy said that I should title this "The Big Ticket" because if he had been around when Mommy got me that is what he would have wanted to name me! LOL I think that Daddy is silly because my name is Rebel. I know that my full name is Rebel Jedi Knight too. Mommy and Daddy call me lots of other names besides just Rebel too like Reb, Rebinski, Boo, Boo Bear, Booska, Booska Bearska, Fat Boy, Big Gallou, Oompa Loompa, and Daddy tries to call me Big Ticket. I answer to them all pretty much except Big Ticket!

Rebel & Suzy Read!

We read a new book!! The name of the book is "The Daily Coyote" and it is written by Shreve Stockton. The book was so wonderful! This book is about the lady raising a coyote baby named Charlie and it is set here in Wyoming. It has amazing pictures which we just stared and stared at for a long time each. We think that Charlie looks a lot like a husky but with bigger ears and longer legs. "The Daily Coyote" even has its own blog! You can go see it here if you want and you should want to since it has tons more pictures!

Rebel gives this book 2 paws up and the blog gets 2 more paws up!
Suzy gives this book 2 paws and a tail up and the blog gets 2 more paws up!
Mommy gives this book 2 thumbs up and the blog gets 2 more thumbs up because she said she could spend hours looking at the pictures!

Introducing Belle

We wanted to introduce another of our friends to you. This is Belle and she is related to Sarah who we introduced you to earlier. She is blood related in 2 ways to Sarah! First, she is from the same doggy Mommy just a different litter. Second, she lives with Sarahs Daddy's brother who is also one of our Daddy's best friends too. Crazy all the ties!! I think that makes Belle and Sarah sisters and cousins or something like that! Belle has a Mommy, Daddy and 2 human big sisters.

You Woke Me??

I was all curled up enjoying an afternoon nap all snuggled on my pillows and what does Mommy do wake me up by coming in to take a picture. Can you tell that I am not very pleased with her waking me up?!? Don't you just love the - You dare to bother me look!! LOL

I love Mommy but sometimes she makes me nuts!

Pretty Pink Collar

Hi everyone! It is me, Suzy! I wanted to show all of you my pretty pink collar!! My favorite color is pink so you know that I just had to have a pink collar!!

In fact unless I am wearing my pink collar I act like a "crazy wild animal" - Those are Mommy's exact words! She said that the reason she calls me a "crazy wild animal" when I don't have my collar on is because I act like I am a wild wolf or coyote instead of a well mannered husky dog.

I like to think that how I act when I don't have my collar on is me letting my inner wild girl out! Everyone needs to do that from time to time don't you think?

Our Friend Sarah

This cute little puppy is our friend Sarah. She isn't a puppy anymore but we still thought that this picture is too cute not to share with you all. She belongs to one of Daddy's best friends and before this friend got married and had kids he used to bring her over to play with us sometimes. Suzy doesn't usually like other girl dogs but she sure did love to play with Sarah when she was a puppy. I think it was because Suzy misses her own babies. It has been a long time since we have seen her though. We don't even know if she remembers us now!!

A Little Togetherness

See we do have moments where we want to be close to each other!! We actually do love each other very much even though we sometimes fight!! In this photo Rebel has found a bone to chew on and seems to be enjoying it very much. I on the other hand am giving Mommy "the pout". One thing that I really do not like about this photo is that you really can tell how I am blowing my coat. I don't like how I look when I am blowing my coat because I don't feel pretty at all with all that fur coming out in clumps. However, I wont let Mommy or Daddy brush me either. Mommy says that she thinks that someone must have beat me with a brush the way that I am afraid of them and I think that she is right!

Mommy's Rhubarb

This lovely hole digging has been done by me, Rebel!! I love to lay in the cool damp earth. Mommy seemed very upset with me over this digging in particular but I really don't know why! (Mommy said to please note the little plants starting to come up out of the earth in this first picture.)

This is me laying in my lovely hole! Again Mommy is very upset with me over where I am laying.

Mommy said that her rhubarb is trying to grow right where I am digging and laying. Mommy said that she doesn't yell at us for digging up the rest of the back yard and that all she asks for in return is that we don't dig up and lay on her rhubarb! I really don't understand this too much though...

Heat Wave!

Mommy said that we are having a heat wave here in Wyoming!! Rebel and I are definitely enjoying this nicer weather!! Most of the big snow we had has melted already!! Can you believe that those big drifts from Friday and Saturday are gone? Our back yard is a big muddy mess!! Mommy keeps yelling at us about our muddy paws and saying how she can't wait for that new floor instead of the carpet we have right now. We aren't so sure about this new floor that Mommy and Daddy keep talking about though. We don't like the floor in the hallway very much and Mommy said that the new floor will be the same thing something she calls laminate flooring. I guess we will wait and see....

Looking For Friends!

Suzy and I love making new friends!!

We would love exchange links with you either on our traditional blogroll or on our scrolling button marquee.

After all the reason we started blogging was so that we could make some new friends since there aren't too many here in our small town!

BTW we got LOTS of snow in the latest storm. Mommy had to go outside in the back yard to brush of the satellite internet dish and the drifts were up to her mid thigh! You should have seen Suzy and I busting through those same drifts!! It was lots of fun but very cold as we are blowing our coats already.

More Snow!

Hi! It is me Suzy again just in case you couldn't tell by the blurry picture! I just wouldn't hold still for Mommy since it is snowing here again!! Can you believe it is snowing in the middle of April?? Well it does snow here in Wyoming a lot, but I am tired of it already especially since I am blowing my coat and am not prepared for the cold any more!

Pouting Again!

Hi everyone! It is me Suzy and boy am I MAD at Mommy again!! She went bye-bye with someone I didn't know on Monday and didn't come home until really late on Tuesday night. She didn't ask my permission to go even!! I told Mommy off as she was leaving in the strangers car too. I punished Daddy by not eating my dinner on Monday night. I did eat some on Tuesday night though because I was flat starving! I have been really mean to Rebel the last few days too because I am sure it was all his fault that Mommy left! I know that Daddy and Mommy both told me that Mommy was just going to see the doctor again, but I don't care what they say!! I know the truth... Rebel was bad and Mommy left!!

I am happy to have Mommy home again though so maybe it wasn't Rebels fault and she really did go see the doctor.... But don't tell Rebel that I have forgiven him!

Welcoming the First Dog, Bo

Suzy and I would like to join in welcoming Bo the First Dog to his new home!! How exciting to get to live at the White House and have the President for a Daddy! Although we are pretty lucky because our Daddy is the Mayor!

Our big question is does he get to do his business in the Rose Garden? LOL!

Bo is a Portuguese water dog and he was a gift to Sasha and Malia from Senator and Mrs. Kennedy. Bo is a boy and he is six months old already!

Image and information from The White House Blog where you can see more pictures and such!

Big Girls Do Cry

This is me pouting. Yup, I am MAD at Mommy because she was gone all day yesterday... When I saw that she was getting ready to leave in the morning I was hopping around trying to get her attention and tell her not to go!! She didn't pay me any mind though. When she and Daddy finally got home it was almost 10 pm and boy did I scarf down my food! After I ate though this is the treatment I gave Mommy, I didn't even want to look at her!

Zombie Chicken!

The nice lady Patricia over at Subjective Soup gave us an award!! OMGosh we are just so excited because this is our very first award ever!! Mommy had to wipe slobber off the monitor because we thought that you could eat the award!! Shouldn't awards taste yummy?!! Oh wait Mommy said that treats taste yummy and awards you look at... Well why didn't she say that to begin with?? Silly Mommy!!

We were given the Zombie Chicken Award!!
The rules of the zombie chicken say...

"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all…"

Well that sounds scary if we don't listen! So, here are our 5 choices to pass this amazing award on to.
  1. Sunflower Seeds
  2. Caregiving Daughter
  3. Duck and Wheel with String
  4. Home Zookeeper
  5. Nothing Off Limits
We had a hard time choosing!!!

Oh What a Tale We Have to Tell!

Suzy and I both felt that we needed to share with all of you the story of the skunk. Yes, we said SKUNK. You know those smelly little black and white striped creatures that we absolutely hate!!

Well this one night about 2 summers ago now we went outside to go potty. Mommy let us out and the next things she knows she hears such a ruckus! We are both just a barking and a howling and all. In case you didn't know I don't bark and make much sounds, I figure Suzy is so good at it that I don't need to usually. Well Suzy and I cornered this creature up against the fence and it was just spraying us and spraying us!! Mommy opens the door to see what is going on and before she can stop her Suzy runs in and starts rubbing all over the carpet!! Mommy gets her back outside ASAP and then gets Daddy up and lets him know what is going on. Like he couldn't tell by the SMELL!! Anyhow they both get on shoes and Mommy tries to get us both into the garage while Daddy gets the paintball gun out to try to scare the skunk out of the yard. Well I listened to Mommy and got into the garage with her but that Suzy she didn't want to listen and Daddy had to fight with her to get her in there with us. Mommy says that she about died from the smell of the two of us when we were closed up in that garage with her!! Daddy finally gets the skunk to leave the yard - Lucky for him that thing had used up all its spray on the two of us or he would have gotten skunked too!

Then Mommy and Daddy had the fun job of figuring out how to de-skunk us!! We both got baths with a special mixture that really seemed to help. The special mixture had vinegar, baking soda and dish detergent in it. The house got sprayed down with vinegar and bowls of vinegar got put out too to help get rid of the nasty odor. It took days for it to stop stinking around there!

Suzy's Forever Home Story

Today I have a very serious and special story to share. I am going to talk about how I came to be here in my forever home. I wasn't so lucky like Rebel to have almost always had Mommy in my life...

I was an abused dog and was found by the shelter on the side of the road with my 7 puppies when I was about 2 years old. When I was found I only weighed about 25 pounds which isn't very much for a husky let alone a husky with that many puppies to feed. The shelter took me in and nursed me back to health as I was very sick. They also helped get my puppies healthy and all their shots and such. My puppies all were placed into forever homes and from what I have heard they all are very happy. The shelter fixed me so that I couldn't make more puppies and continued to nurse me back to health. They listed me in the paper trying to find me a forever home too. I was adopted and returned 2 times before Mommy and Daddy adopted me. You see I am quite the escape artist and that posed a problem for some of the other people who tried to give me forever homes. Daddy had seen me in the paper each of the 2 other times but had been too late in telling Mommy about me and I was gone when they called. When he saw me in the paper the third time he called right away and wanted to see me right away!

Mommy and Daddy said that when they met me for the first time they knew that I had been very badly abused so they both got down on the floor in the vets office to meet me. I walked in and went straight up to Mommy and let her pet me. The vet staff was just shocked as I had never done that with any potential parents before. Then after Daddy kept talking to me I shyly went over and met him too. I was shocked that he seemed so nice! I had been abused by a man and this man didn't seem mean or ugly acting at all. The vet staff talked to the people that ran the shelter and they decided that Mommy and Daddy could take me home that very day! I heard them say that they had another husky at home and as long as we got along OK then I would have a forever home.

On the long ride to their house at first Mommy rode in the back seat with me and then halfway they switched and Daddy rode with me back there too. When we pulled up to the house I saw a big back yard with a fence. We all got out and Daddy gave Mommy the leash to hold and he went into the house and got a leash for Rebel then got him off of his chain. Then Mommy brought me into the back yard too and let the two of us get close enough to sniff each other. Mommy and Daddy both kept telling Rebel and me that we needed to be nice and told us that we needed to love each other. After a little while they let the leashes go and we checked each other out a little more and started running around and playing. I think that for Rebel and I both it was love at first site. Then Grandma and Grandpa came over to meet me too. Right away I loved Grandma but I wasn't so sure about Grandpa. He had a hat on and the bad man that abused me used to wear hats, so I growled at him a lot. Mommy and Daddy put Rebel back on his chain and made an area for me to be chained up too where we wouldn't get tangled. We had to be on chains back then because there were a few areas of the fence that needed to be made higher so that we couldn't escape! I can jump very high and Mommy and Daddy didn't want me to run away. Oh man I was so unhappy when they left me chained up back there with my little house, food and water. I started howling and carrying on! I made such a racket that they had to come get me and let me in the house with them. You see I was house trained when I lived at the shelter and when I first came to live here Rebel was not house trained so they didn't want to play favorites with the two of us. Mommy and Daddy had tried and tried but Rebel just didn't want any part of potty training because he loved being outside so much crazy dog that he is.

Mommy let me get up in bed with her and everything that first night and that is how it has been ever since with me in bed with them! Mommy and Daddy felt bad for Rebel being outside while I was inside so they got him too and Daddy made a bed up for Rebel slept on the floor in his sleeping bag with him that first night. Mommy and Daddy say that I potty trained Rebel, and I think that they are right!! Well that or Rebel didn't want me to get to do things he didn't get to so he went along with things. We got to come inside every night then and when Mommy or Daddy were home during the day but still had to go outside during the day though while Mommy and Daddy were at work and boy did I hate that at first because of the chain. The first chance Mommy got she worked on adapting the fences to make them higher where she needed to so that I couldn't escape. She built a new fence in one part of the yard using Rebel's old kennel panels and she added this other stuff to the top of other areas of the fence and she put all this rope up over the top of the long gate. It sure does look funny but I can't get out so I guess it serves the purpose! Now we go outside in the back yard without any chains. We still aren't allowed in the house without supervision but with Mommy being here all the time pretty much now it sure is nice!

Anyhow, that is my story of how I came to live here with Mommy, Daddy, and Rebel in my forever home. It hasn't always been easy but Mommy and Daddy say that I am a different dog than the one they brought home that first day. I let them touch my feet more now and I don't cower around nice men. I don't even mind if nice men were hats.

Antelope!

This picture is of an antelope. We have a lot of these animals here in Wyoming. They are very bold and spend a lot of time over in the park where the football field and track area is across the street from our house. We don't mind them too much when they are over there as that isn't really our yard even though Mommy and Daddy sometimes take us for nice long walks over there around the track. What we do mind quite a lot is when these antelope decide to come into our yard!! They are often in the front yard which we don't use much as we have the whole big fenced in back yard to play in. Sometimes they come right up to our fence like they are trying to pick a fight! Rebel and I stick together when things think that they are going to come into our yard and pick on us! I woo woo and get Mommy or Daddy to come out and see what is wrong! Then they chase those stupid animals away!! They smell funny those antelopes do. Maybe funny isn't the right word though... I think that they might smell like dinner!! That is it they smell like dinner!! Daddy hunts antelope in the fall for us to have with our rice for dinner most nights. No wonder those antelope try to come and pick on Rebel and I - Maybe we have eaten some of their family for dinner!

Just a Little Snow

This picture is of the two of us just as one of the first snow storms of winter was beginning. We were kind of excited to see the snow this time. We aren't happy to see more snow coming anymore though. We think that winter has gone on too long already!

Wishing for Warm Weather

It snowed here again today. Not just a little bit of snow either but a lot!! We have great big drifts in our backyard too. Since both of us have started blowing our winter coats all this snow and cold has me wishing for warm weather...

This picture is of me enjoying my birthday treat for my 8th birthday back on November 20th. I am getting to be old Daddy says! Anyhow the treat has one of my most favorite things in it - Peanut Butter!! Mommy made these special treats for us, one for me and even one for Suzy too! She took peanut butter and put a few spoonfuls of it in a throw away cup half filled with water then she let it freeze hard before she unmolded them and gave the treats to us.

At first Suzy wasn't too sure about what to do with it but once she got the taste of the peanut butter inside she went to town on it too!

Treat Time!!!

Mommy loves this picture so much that it is the wallpaper on her cell phone! It is pretty much the only picture of the two of us furbabies together. She tricked us into this adorable if we don't say so ourselves photo with treats! LOL Can you tell we LOVE our treats!?! We don't usually look so messy with our fur but we were blowing our coats when this photo was taken so we are not as pretty and handsome as usual although Mommy thinks we look great no matter what!

Don't Even Think About It!

This is me with one of the bones that Mommy and Daddy spoil us with as treats. Can you tell that I am not too happy with Mommy being so close to my bone? I am giving her my best "Don't even think about it" looks. While I am not quite the bone hound that Rebel is, I still do enjoy a good gnaw every now and again! I can't wait for summer to come again as that is when we usually get the really good big bones to gnaw on!

Sled Dogs!?!

Mommy and Daddy went on vacation in Colorado a few summers ago. One of the places that they visited was a place that raises sled dogs and does sled rides with the dogs. Rebel and I were both excited to hear about other husky dogs that actually pulled sleds just like in the movies! Then Mommy showed us the pictures of the houses that these husky dogs live in.... Ummm no thank you Mommy we will stay here with you!! Mommy and Daddy both told us that the husky dogs seemed to be very happy with their houses and that they got to go into a big fenced in area in groups to run and play every day too. We weren't going for it though and have decided that all husky dogs should get to live in homes where they get lots of love and big cushy beds to sleep in just like us!
