Mommy and Daddy went on vacation in Colorado a few summers ago. One of the places that they visited was a place that raises sled dogs and does sled rides with the dogs. Rebel and I were both excited to hear about other husky dogs that actually pulled sleds just like in the movies! Then Mommy showed us the pictures of the houses that these husky dogs live in.... Ummm no thank you Mommy we will stay here with you!! Mommy and Daddy both told us that the husky dogs seemed to be very happy with their houses and that they got to go into a big fenced in area in groups to run and play every day too. We weren't going for it though and have decided that all husky dogs should get to live in homes where they get lots of love and big cushy beds to sleep in just like us!
My husband went dog sledding. A Husky rescue group was giving rides at the metropark nearby to raise money for their group. Here's the link to the post about which includes a video if you're interested: http://zemeks.blogspot.com/2009/02/gerard-went-dog-sledding.html
ReplyDeleteI had to do a double take when I saw this picture, and that was even before I started reading your post. I guess a roof is better than no roof, and they sure would feel nice and secure in those things, but still...no thank you. Suzy and Rebel know a good thing when they have it!

Yeah, I'd say a warm house with Mommy and Daddy is best!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I was raised as a couch dog rather than a sled dog!

Sounds like you are much better off where you are at!
ReplyDeleteSmart dog and great choice!! If I had the choice between staying in a large white bucket or on a cushy bed I'd have to pick the bed.
ReplyDeleteIt looks uncomfortable, but I think these dogs don't mind the accommodations. The usually sleep in the snow (and under it) when they are on the trail, so I guess it is an improvement! Did you ever watch the Iditarod on TV? LOVE that!
